Milestones

The most important reason for monitoring each child’s development is to determine whether a child’s development is on track. Looking for developmental milestones is important to understanding each child’s development and behavior.

Weighing

It is important to  closely monitor weight as the baby is in their early stages. Some of the issues related to low birth weight include low oxygen levels, greater risk for infection, difficulty breathing, body temperature variations, and difficulty feeding and/or gaining weight.

Breast Feeding

Breastfeeding is good for both infants and mothers. Breast milk is the best source of nutrition for most infants. As an infant grows, breast milk changes to meet the infant’s nutritional needs. Breastfeeding can also help protect the infant and mother against certain illnesses and diseases.

Introduction to Solids

Your child can begin eating solid foods at about 6 months old. By the time he or she is 7 or 8 months old, your child can eat a variety of foods from different food groups.
